Since the final confirmation of the closure of C8, things have been moving for Cyril Hanouna. The one who was to join the M6 group would ultimately be integrated into CSTAR, another channel of the Canal+group.
Cyril Hanouna stays in the Canal+ group? It is a possibility that has been fraying its way since the final confirmation of the closure of C8. The host had his daily program “Touche pas à mon poste”, whose audiences are still playing records on French television. As long as the decision was not final, the host had turned to the M6 group. He was promised two daily programs on Fun Radio and W9. However, he had to give up tackling political subjects in his program, which have been at the origin of numerous reminders of order and condemnations of the Arcom in recent years.
In addition, not all were delighted to see Cyril Hanouna arrive at M6. This was in particular the case of Karine Le Marchand, the star host of the program “L’Amour is in the meadow”. She assured “if I come, I’m going”, with our colleagues from ReleaseJanuary 24. A position which had not pleased the group’s management, which then confirmed the negotiations with Cyril Hanouna.
A future at CSTAR?
But a departure from Cyril Hanouna from the Canal+ group to the M6 group would be a big loss for Vincent Bolloré, his majority shareholder. According to our colleagues from ParisianEurope 1 would have made a counter-proposal to the host in order to continue to broadcast his program “On Marche on the head”. As a reminder, Europe 1 is part of the Canal+group. In addition, Vincent Bolloré and Cyril Hanouna are particularly close. This had also earned a controversial sequence between the host and the LFI deputy Louis Boyard on this subject a few years ago.
The solution would therefore be to continue to broadcast “Touche pas à mon poste” on CSTAR, another channel of the Canal+group. With this option, Cyril Hanouna would always have the opportunity to talk about politics. Another program would also be parachuted on TNT channel 17, “Chez Jordan”. But this would not be the case for “animals of the eight”, which should find a second breath with TF1. “We cannot keep all our current programs since the CSTAR convention requires us to broadcast music a major part of the day,” said a CSTAR representative to our colleagues.
