Cyprien Sarrazin what is his state of health after his

The French skier suffered a heavy fall. Here are the first details on his state of health.

Huge scare for skiers and, more particularly, for the French delegation this Friday, December 27, 2024. Cyprien Sarrazin (2nd in the 2023-2024 downhill season) was the victim of a heavy fall in Bormio, Italy. The 30-year-old Frenchman was training on the track on which he was due to start this Saturday, from 11:30 a.m.

After a first training session on Thursday, Cyprien Sarrazin made another descent before the race, but the 30-year-old lost control of his skis and flew off a bump before bouncing on the track and ending up in the protective tarpaulins.

The Frenchman evacuated by helicopter

The shock was particularly violent and emergency services quickly came to his rescue. According to the first elements communicated by the French Ski Federation, the Frenchman is “aware” and “will carry out examinations”. He was evacuated by helicopter. Several media, including The Team, Eurosport and the Frankfurter Allgemeine suggests that Cyprien Sarrazin complained of foot pain. At this stage, no additional information has been given on the skier’s state of health.

The accident occurred when the French had set the best time in the first training session in Bormio the day before. It was on this track that he won his first race last season. A track criticized by other skiers for its dangerousness, like Nils Allègre, another member of the French delegation.

“We are being heckled in all directions, the conditions are really not good. I am very unhappy with the organization. […] The problem is how it is prepared. For example, they didn’t have time to work the lower part as much as usual, because they didn’t have enough snow. In the end, that’s the best part. They deliberately make the slope more difficult, with holes, with ice,” the skier commented to The Team.
