The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said one of its convoys in Gaza was stopped by the Israeli military on Monday.
This despite the fact that the convoy had coordinated with the military in advance.
According to Unrwa chief Philippe Lazzarini, the staff arrested were working on the ongoing polio vaccination of children in northern Gaza and Gaza City. They were then detained for over eight hours by the military before being released.
“The convoy was stopped at gunpoint just after the Wadi Gaza checkpoint, with threats to detain UN personnel,” Lazzarini writes on X, adding that the UN vehicles in which the personnel were traveling were badly damaged by bulldozers.
The convoy was later able to return to a UN base, but it is now unclear whether the polio vaccination will take place on Tuesday in northern Gaza.

– I want to see children get away from their screens and instead get out on football pitches, tennis courts and in swimming pools, he says to the TV channel ABC and adds:
– We want them to have real experiences with real people because we know that social media causes harm.
An attempt to introduce age verification will be carried out in the coming months, before legislation is introduced at the end of the year, Albanese said.
