Briton Mark Cavendish, one of the best sprinters of all time, announced that he would end his career at the end of the season, Monday May 22 during a press conference during the 2nd rest day of the Tour of Italy, in Coccaglio, in Lombardy. The Isle of Man rider, who celebrated his 38th birthday on Sunday, has set himself the ultimate goal of winning a 35th stage victory in the Tour de France in July and thus breaking the record he currently shares with the Belgian Eddy Merckx.
