The Swedish star cyclist was in the lead right from the start and stayed there until the final lap. There, the 44-year-old pressed a couple of times – without any real payoff.
But she hung on right up until the sprint battle.
However, it ended up being fourth place for Beck – who crossed the line shortly after the medalists. She cycled to the finish in 1.38.49.
– I felt that the last bit wasn’t there today. I tried to wear them out. I know the hell what I felt, says a frustrated Anna Beck to SVT Sport.
Japanese took gold
The Japanese Keiko Sugiura (1.38,48) won the competition. The silver went to Flurina Rigling from Switzerland and Clara Brown took the bronze.
Beck talks about the support.
– It’s absolutely incredible, five stars. We have Crown Princess Estelle and Queen Silvia here today. I got a hug from them, it’s honourable.
Anna Beck won a bronze in the time trial earlier during the Paralympics and dedicated the medal to her cancer-stricken brother.
Henrik Marvig was twelfth in the men’s race, with a time of 1.50.59. Britain’s Finlay Graham won.
The competition is Marvig’s last, as he chooses to end his career.
