Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled debut, CD Projekt RED’s hard times and the reason behind it all come to the fore again. The company is misguided!
You remember the era when Cyberpunk 2077 came out full of bugs. Perhaps one of the most devastating events in the video game industry had occurred, one of the most loved game companies by the fans suddenly became the most disliked company. Some rumors are emerging these days that the developer company has been completely misled, and that the culprit is actually Quantic Labs, which provides outsourced Q&A (quality assurance) services.
Could Quantic Lab be responsible for the Cyberpunk 2077 release?
Upper Echelon Gamers In a video shared on his YouTube channel, the channel owner claims that he received Quantic Lab’s documents. However, the documents were sent by an individual within the company, not directly from the company. Although it has not yet been verified, UEG says that the documents it received are correct and that the game completely fits the roadmap of the development process.
The information in the incoming documents is quite striking. It digs into the root cause of CD Projekt RED’s problems at the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Getting to the bottom of the story, the situation is actually not as complicated as it seems. When game companies – among them CDPR – get closer to the final versions of their games, they use some services to test the game from outside professionals as well as in-house testing. For this, they have been working with Quantic Lab, which provides outsourced Q&A (Quality assurance) testing service for a while. Quantic Lab has done QA tests of a big production like Witcher 3 before. At the same time, they are the company that conducts the QA tests of Cyberpunk 2077.
According to the documents sent to Upper Echelon Gamers, the QA tests of Cyberpunk 2077 were performed by young employees whose work experience does not exceed one year or even six months, instead of the company’s team of experienced professionals. The team that did the QA tests of The Witcher 3 did not work on Cyberpunk 2077. Even the project leader working on CPR 2077 is said to have little work experience. A CD Projekt RED spokesperson said the company did not comment on the rumors.
The testing team constantly mentioned minor visual errors in the reports they sent to the company. While there are so many big bugs in the game, this relatively inexperienced team is said to focus on the little things. The testing process, which started with 30 people in the last quarter of 2019, increased to 60 people in 2020. However, the testers who joined the group later on did not come from experts in the sector, but from people with less work experience, which we can call novices. This inexperienced team, on the other hand, made things more painful rather than speeding up. This whole thing resulted in CD Projekt RED being misled about the quality assurance of the game. According to the video owner, the culprit in this story is Quantic Lab.
What would have changed if all these setbacks had not occurred?
