The serious disruption in the Church of Sweden’s central computer system on Thursday was caused by a cyber attack, the church confirms.
The cyber attack, which affected several systems, has been reported to the police and the Swedish Data Protection Agency.
“Intensive work to minimize the damage continues,” the Church of Sweden writes in a press release.
The consequences of the attack are expected to last for several weeks.
