Attention to those who order game discs from abroad! With the new regulation, shipping costs will also be included in the customs calculation. Your game purchase may be affected.
The new customs regulation will impose additional costs for players who order physical game discs and gaming equipment from abroad. With the decision published in the Official Gazette, shipping fees will now be included in customs calculations. The regulation will come into force within 30 days.
What’s Changing for Game Lovers?
Previously, when game discs, console accessories or special collections were ordered from abroad, only the price of the product was included in the customs limit. However, with the new regulation, shipping, port costs and all transportation fees to Turkey will be calculated by adding them to the customs value. This situation will lead to significant changes, especially in the customs exemption limit of 30 Euros.
For example, when you order a game disc from abroad for 28 Euros, the total amount will be calculated as 33 Euros, even if the shipping fee is 5 Euros. In this case, you will have to pay additional tax because the customs exemption has been exceeded. This change may affect orders for low-cost gaming accessories or discs, making overseas shopping less attractive.
The regulation will increase the number of players who prefer digital gaming platforms instead of purchasing physical game discs or equipment. Digital platforms such as Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox Store are not affected by these additional costs caused by physical products.
This decision, published in the Official Gazette, will officially begin to be implemented after 30 days. After this date, players who order physical products from abroad will have to include the shipping cost in their calculations when placing their orders.
