Olivia Karlsson works everyday as a customs inspector at Arlanda. But many recognize her from her participation in “Gränsbevakarna Sverige” where the TV viewers have been able to follow her work, and “Frrädarna” where she finished in second place.
When she visited “The morning shift” in P3 she talks about her work and a decidedly unpleasant discovery.

When you land at an airport, you need to go through the corridor where customs is housed, which is called the filter. Many people may find it difficult, even though they are completely innocent and have not smuggled anything with them. But then there are the people who have actually smuggled.
– What we’re looking for is deviant behavior and you learn that as you stand there in the filter. After a while you learn to distinguish between what is nervousness because you have something with you or that you are just nervous because we are staring at you, says Olivia Karlsson in “Morgonpasset”.
She explains that she can get a sense of deviant behavior due to, among other things, a person’s look, body language or that the person is trying to take a detour around customs. She then points out that not everyone who is called in has deviant behaviour.

The disgusting find
In the interview, Olivia Karlsson talks about a disgusting and unpleasant seizure she made at work. She says that the worst seizure she has made involved a bag filled with meat that smelled incredibly bad.
– We had a woman who came traveling from Africa somewhere. She had a rodent with her. A complete rodent. It was prepared in some way and it included teeth and the whole package. It would then be ground down and added to some porridge so that it would relieve coughs.
Olivia Karlsson continues:
– Then she also had a bag with entrails, so it was a kidney, heart and liver. They were somehow dried out. And you would thread them around a ribbon and put them on your waist so that it would help against something.
