It was in early March that millions of people around the world discovered the terrible: their Chromecast had stopped working.

Those with Chromecast second generation or Chromecast Audio were met by the message “Untrusted Device” and did not succeed Casta content.

It took almost a week until Google managed to solve the problem, which News24 then reported.

A clear consequence of the Chromecast problems has been shown in Norway’s technology stores.

Power Norway noticed that a lot of customers suddenly started buying Chromecast options, which was not at all in demand before the problems.

-We are now experiencing an explosion in the sale of alternative streaming products. Sales have quadrupled over the past two weeks compared to the previous weeks, says Silje EnsrudHead of Communications at Power Norway, for the Tek.No.

Elgiganten’s Norwegian counterpart, electricity, also noticed clear signs of the increased demand.

-In connection with the error that appeared on these units, I can confirm that we saw a significant increase in the sale of streaming products, says Martin JordetSales Manager Audio & Picture at Elkjøp, to The site.

It is not only in Norway where people want to replace their old Chromecasts. In Sweden, too, customers seem to apply for new alternatives.

News24 has contacted the Elgiganten, whose press officer Linnea Cederquist Writes that customers began to come in as a result of the problems.

“Customers have then taken the opportunity to upgrade to other options such as TV Streamer or Strong Google TV box,” she writes in an email, adding:

“It is generally high demand now and we are doing our best locally in the department stores to help all customers find the right alternative for them.”
