Marabou is a well-known Swedish brand and is owned by Mondelez International. Marabou is best known for its chocolate cakes in various flavors.
Customers boycotted Marabou
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many talked about boycotting Marabou, as they were blacklisted by Ukrainian authorities for their Russian connections.
Mondelez has operations in Russia and sells its products there. Mondelez also owns brands such as Daim, Philadelphia and O’boy.
At the beginning of 2024, Marabou announced that they had implemented a major change with their packaging. The new packages have a “Made in Sweden” label and a larger “M”, where the design differs slightly depending on the flavor of the chocolate cake.

Customers raved about Marabou’s new design
According to Helena Arver, Senior Brand Manager at Marabou, the design took two years to design and work on. When the design was newly launched, it stirred up a lot of emotions among customers. Many thought that the design was ugly and that the old one was better, which News24 wrote more about then.

Marabou brings back the customer favourite
From week 7, Marabou will relaunch an old customer favourite, which the Instagram account Matsiktet was the first to report on.
When Matsiktet reported this on their Instagram, the post quickly gained a lot of attention.

Then the Marabou strawberry will return
Many customers were incredibly happy about the news, and at the time of writing, the picture she Matsiktet has received over 11,000 likes.
“It’s the best Marabou there is yet,” wrote one user, and others chimed in.
“I was totally obsessed with this one! Bought 5,200g and they didn’t even last a month”.
“BEST happening in 2025”.
