There are some things we humans can’t live without, other things that are more or less necessary and some things we simply don’t need.
Expensive loans? That way you will have enough money
Families with children have expenses of up to 30,000 per month
In 2024, Swedish households have seen their expenses increase significantly, regardless of whether you live alone or not.
According to the Swedish Consumer Agency’s calculation, single residents should spend around SEK 9,500 a month in 2024.
A family with children, on the other hand, should, according to the state authority, expect living expenses of between SEK 25,000-30,000 per month during the year. The expenses largely cover households, where everything from rent, interest costs, amortization, insurance and electricity are included.

On May 8, the Financial Supervisory Authority released its consumer protection report for 2024 and there it appears that private individuals are being warned about the companies that sell inappropriate products, above all savings and insurance products, which restrict spending.
The reason for the authority’s hard-line tone is that there are several insurance products and services offered to private individuals on the Swedish market, which are partly expensive but also complex.
In addition, the companies are obliged by law to only offer insurance products that meet the buyer’s needs. Instead, you see a trend in companies selling to consumers who simply do not need what they are paying for.
“Many product insurances are sold through so-called secondary insurance intermediaries without their own permission, for example electronics chains. The intermediary then receives payment from the insurance company. This can lead to the consumer being offered product insurance that he does not need,” they write in the report.

According to Consumers’ is product insurance something that can give you compensation if your product or item is damaged by an unforeseen event such as burglary.
This can apply to everything from insurance on your newly purchased television to the mobile phone.
The Financial Supervisory Authority believes that consumer protection needs to be strengthened so that private individuals are not at risk of being deceived or buying something they do not understand they do not need.
– Some companies fail in this work. For many years, we have raised the problem of consumers being offered directly unsuitable products that do not provide value for money, says Moa Langemarkconsumer protection economist at the Financial Supervisory Authority in the press release.
