Curious audio bug and other errors frustrate Guardians and literally cause headaches

The Season 20 Midseason Update for Destiny 2 caused a lot of excitement among Guardians, but unfortunately not in the way we had hoped. Since its release, many players have been struggling with curious bugs that are causing literal headaches.

What’s going on with Destiny 2 after the update? On Tuesday of this week, Bungie rolled out its big midseason update for Season 20. It included some weapon and skill changes, as well as bug fixes.

Destiny 2: Midseason Update 7.0.5 from 04/18 is here – All patch notes and info

Basically, it is understandable that updates and patches can also contain new bugs and errors. That is never entirely out of the question. However, the current issues in Destiny 2 have pushed the limit of what players can and want to accept.

Paul Tassi from forbes created a personal bug list after the update and showed that the 7.0.5.0 midseason patch in Destiny 2 brought more problems than solutions. The list is long and contains a variety of things that severely affect the gaming experience. These include, among others:

  • Some of the issues reported by players are slow load times, sudden crashes followed by unjustified timeouts, missing weapons, server issues, and matchmaking system issues in PvP.
  • But that’s not all. A strange sound bug has also crept in, which leads to strange and much too loud sounds, especially in connection with the 3D audio settings.
  • New Destiny 2 gameplay: Lightfall takes you to spectacular heights – “Guardians were made for this moment”

Longer downtimes and new bugs frustrate Guardians: Actually, the midseason update was supposed to move the meta in the game. Make weapons stronger, level abilities and optimize PvP. However, that receded far into the background.

Mainly because the new problems not only affect the gaming experience, but also the Destiny 2 community. Many custodians were disappointed after the patch and demand quick fixes and a smooth gaming experience because the list of bugs is long and some of them are serious.

The Midseason Update introduced these new bugs:

  • Grenade mods no longer seem to work with strand grabs
  • For the Thread subclass, the “thread of generation” appears to be nerfed or broken.
  • Firepower and possibly Reaper mods no longer spawn orbs.
  • You can already earn Guardian Games medals, although the Guardian Games won’t be live until May.
  • The Warden Games statue in the tower now indicates that the Hunters would have won last year, not the Warlocks.
  • The previously easily accessible laser orb above the front gate has been removed from Heist battlegrounds on all difficulties.
  • The planned nerf of the IKELOS submachine gun may not have been implemented.
  • The last step of the seasonal quest, around Amanda Holliday, doesn’t allow you to collect the ship because you already got it when you reset the rank in the HELM. Actually, the ghost should drop there and not the ship, so players cannot complete the quest.
  • There were penalties for leaving Crucible or Gambit games, when in fact they weren’t.
  • Raid loot is not dropped in some encounters but ends up in the mail.
  • With Ashes to Attack and Grabbed mod equipped, players will only get super energy from one of the mods. However, this is intentional, as Bungie clarified.
  • Resilience doesn’t always work correctly, so players endure less.
  • Raid banners can no longer be placed in some places.
  • Grenades no longer spawn firesprites, affecting player builds with Solar.
  • Radiant weapons no longer stun anti-barrier champions.
  • The King’s Fall raid crashes or just keeps disconnecting players.
  • Gilded titles are buggy again after the update and need to be accepted again.
  • Also, some players are experiencing extreme audio issues.
  • Strange audio problems cause annoying noises

In Destiny 2 there were other strange sound bugs, like that of the roaring ogre

This gives you a headache: The audio problems in particular were a topic in the Destiny Reddit and among the players. For example, the player Ashen8th reports that he has never experienced anything like this on the PS5 and that this new sound bug in particular would have made the game completely unplayable for him:

It’s like dozens of sounds being forcibly pressed on top of each other and pushed through my headset like a cheese grater.

Ashen8th describes the curious audio issues Destiny 2 is having right now

That doesn’t just sound uncomfortable. It sounds like it too. The bug also seems to affect not only the PS5 players. Xbox and PC players also agree with his statement and report faulty noises that are annoying and also much too loud. Especially if you use 3D sound and headphones.

Some users have found that going down to 30 FPS would have solved the audio issues. This could also be attributed to the well-known FPS problems that Destiny 2 has been struggling with for a long time. However, this cannot be confirmed.

Destiny 2: In Season 20, players now die one-hit – guilt is an annoying and age-old mistake

This temporarily solves the sound issue in Destiny 2: However, Bungie has already provided a short-term fix for the in-game sound issues that will help. So as a workaround it is recommended to disable 3D audio. These include:

  • native 3D audio on PS5
  • Atmos/Windows Sonic on PC and Xbox.
  • Regardless of the reasons behind the accumulation of errors and bugs, players agree that Bungie needs to act urgently to get the loot shooter back on track quickly. Mainly because Lightfall already didn’t start with the best of experiences.

“What’s going on at Bungie Support?” In fact, Destiny 2 developers have proven many times in the past that they are absolutely capable of responding to and fixing problems quickly and effectively.

But these new bugs have once again led to massive frustration among players, who are now becoming increasingly indignant and wondering what is actually going on at Bungie.

  • Some players speculated that the increasing pressure on Bungie as a developer to deliver larger and more complex updates means that the quality of the game suffers.
  • Others argue that Bungie may not have enough resources to handle the growing number of players and their needs.
  • Bungie has already started troubleshooting: However, the developer of Destiny 2 is already in the process of clarifying the questions of the players and, above all, clarifying some ambiguities.

They have already fixed several issues that have surfaced since the update, including the unwarranted Crucible and Gambit suspensions.

After that, the Destiny2Team account on Twitter shared further explanations about changes in the game that are not bugs at all, but intended changes:

  • For example, with Firepower and Grabbed equipped, players will now only spawn one Orb of Power, not two, when grappling an enemy.
  • Weapon crafting progress now comes from the key chest instead of the base chest.
  • Also, grenade kickstart should no longer be activated when holding on to a grapple point and thus not consuming grenade energy.

On Twitter, Bungie added helpful hints to the patch notes and also confirmed nerfs

Until everything is fixed, players should be patient and report any complaints they encounter to Bungie right away to ensure nothing is forgotten.
