Cupra DarkRebel concept debuts in Munich

Here is the Cupra DarkRebel, an all-electric sports car with the attitude of a teenager rebelling against conventional norms.

Heralded from the home of Cupra, DarkRebel is the brainchild of over 270,000 entries from the Cupra Tribe, an eclectic mix that includes FC Barcelona stars like Alexia Putellas, Ansu Fati and actor Daniel Brühl. A car sculpted by celebrities and fans through the online Hyper Configurator. We’ve seen similar attempts before – celebrities designing cars, but DarkRebel looks really good.

DarkRebel’s design speaks of an electric future and is painted in a fascinating mercury-like hue. The lighting strategy of the car is an art in itself. Take the Cupra logo apart and you will see three triangles; This is the design basis of Daytime Running Lights. An innovative lighting concept, if any.

The sailboat-inspired center keel seamlessly connects the front and rear, emphasizing the sporty appeal of the DarkRebel. What about dark violet? More moody than a rainy evening, it changes tone according to the ambient light. The Cupra logo runs along the entire rim.

DarkRebel is 4.5 m long, 2.2 m wide and 1.3 m high (it rises to 2.2 m when the doors open). These dimensions are very similar to the new MG Cyberster.

When you hold the steering wheel, you will feel the racing and gaming worlds merge, and there is a lighted gear lever. The sci-fi world of games enters the real world.

This sci-fi theme continues with a thermal camera on the ceiling that monitors the state of the cabin. According to the readings, the intelligent climate control adjusts the temperature with the air expelled from the gills located under the windshield.

A gamified interface allows you to participate in a connected world, not just drive with Cupra Tribe. Navigate between three unique UX/UI experiences: Exponential Square, Exponential Cube, and Exponential Infinite, each offering a different digital interactivity.

Cupra DarkRebel is on display at Cupra Open Space during IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich. We’ve yet to hear more about its conversion to an on-road vehicle, but we hope it doesn’t take long.
