She called Ruben Östlund a “writer”, which caused a stir.
Now Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand has spoken on the phone with the award-winning director.
– He is a fantastic person, she tells Aftonbladet.
Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand (M) visited Norrmalmstorg in central Stockholm this evening.
The Stockholm Film Festival showed a film at the site to pay attention to the children who died during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A white screen with a bell that rang for each child killed in it.
– You are very touched. I think it’s an extremely nice initiative, says Parisa Liljestrand in front of the screen.
Called an award-winning film a book
On SVT’s morning sofa two weeks ago, the new Minister of Culture was pressed about the Tidö Agreement – and the cultural canon that the government will introduce.
In connection with that, she called the filmmaker Ruben Östlund the author and his award-winning film “Triangle of sadness” the book.
Östlund himself directed criticism at the Minister of Culture after her fad.
But now they have spoken to each other on the phone.
– He is a fantastic person. We have talked on the phone and we also have ideas about continuing our conversation, says Parisa Liljestrand.
The Minister of Culture emphasizes Sweden when asked which country’s cultural policy she is inspired by.
– I think that Sweden has a fantastic cultural policy, We have very fine values in democracy. Free media and a diversity of media. I think Sweden can inspire others.
Will talk about public service
Parisa Liljestrand does not want to answer any questions about public service or about entrance fees at state museums. Instead, she refers to a press conference on Tuesday. A meeting that is planned on the occasion of the budget being presented,
– At tomorrow’s press conference, I will say a few words about public service, she says.
When it comes to Sweden’s media in general and Aftonbladet’s culture pages in particular, the Minister of Culture is satisfied, and impressed.
– It is fantastic to have a diversity of media where culture has a large space in discussing democracy and openness. Aftonbladet Kultur and other cultural pages are extremely important instruments for that, she says.
