Israel’s attacks on Baalbek, Anjar and Tire in Lebanon have hit close to ancient Roman ruins. The last time Israel came close to UNESCO sites was yesterday.

Hundreds of cultural influencers have appealed for the protection of Lebanon’s historical treasures as Israel continues its attacks on Hezbollah extremist organization targets in Lebanon.

On the Change.org website the published petition was signed by 300 archaeologists, museum curators, academics and other professionals from Europe and the United States.

The letter was addressed to the Secretary General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO For Audrey Azoulay before the UNESCO meeting on the protection of Lebanon’s cultural sites. The meeting is on Monday in Paris.

Israel’s attacks on Baalbek, Anjar and Tire have hit close to, among other things, ancient Roman ruins, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

– Lebanon’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites belong not only to Lebanon but to all of humanity, said UNESCO’s representative for Lebanon Mustapha Adib For This is Beirut.
