In Olivier Megaton’s action thriller (96 Hours – Taken 2), a young killer (Marvel star Zoe Saldana) seeks revenge on the drug cartel that murdered her family. Besson produced and co-wrote the screenplay, which was originally based on a script called Mathilda. Included is the planned sequel to Léon – Der Profi, which couldn’t be filmed because of a dispute with rights holder Gaumont (via IndieWire).

Of course, the script for Colombiana moves away from its original idea, but the parallels to Léon will be clearly visible for many fans. The lineage story didn’t help the film much. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it fell flat with many critics and received extremely tepid box office results (via Box Office Mojo).
