In the early ’90s, thanks to Die Hard, Bruce Willis was seen as an action icon that shaped a whole new type of genre hero. Tony Scott’s Last Boy Scout is one of his best roles of this kind. On Saturday evening at 10:20 p.m. the cracker will be shown on RTL II, in which Willis shines as an incredibly cool wreck.
Action cult Last Boy Scout shows Bruce Willis at the height of his charisma
Scott’s film revolves around Willis as Joe, a defunct ex-Secret Service agent who has lost his job and caught his wife having an affair. As a private investigator, he takes on his latest case, where he’s tasked with protecting stripper Cory (Halle Berry). When he meets football player Jimmy (Damon Wayans), who has been fired for drug abuse and illegal gambling, and Cory is shot in the street, the two men become one corrupt abyss cracked.
Last Boy Scout shines above all with Bruce Willis in the leading role, who even trumps his legendary John McClane from Die Hard Here in terms of worn-out coolness.
His Joe is a wreck at rock bottom who only feels something again through his life-threatening job. Tony Scott is directing his film at the same time with hard-hitting actionwhich matches the edgy character of the main character.
Coupled with Damon Wayans’ charismatic performance as the scandal-ridden football player, Last Boy Scout is one of the coolest, grittiest action films of the ’90s. When it comes to Bruce Willis’ best roles, the strip definitely cannot be left out of the list.
