As a municipal councilor, Van Iersel tries to ensure a flourishing, biodiverse environment, and also takes good care of his bees. He really pampers them too. There is kissing and cuddling, and that is not without danger. It always makes him laugh: “I work without protection, so I have to be very careful. The more careful, the more you become part of the mechanism. And sometimes, yes, sometimes they kiss back. Then they prick me. But that’s really but very rarely.”
