– This is a sign of a very sad trend in society when criminals use enablers, i.e. people employed in the police, the correctional service and in this case the municipality, says Joacim Strömblad, investigator of the CSN legal department.
“Must be more vigilant”
Since the grant crimes became known to CSN in 2021, the authority has worked to tighten control over education providers around the country.
– Before, we have been able to rely on municipalities and schools that reported to us. But obviously we now have to be more vigilant and we will introduce extra new controls in the future to avoid this type of cheating, says Joacim Strömblad.
This went on for many years and was discovered thanks to an anonymous tip – otherwise the cheating would have continued today, you write yourself in your report – how do you see this?
– It’s obviously not good and that’s what we’re working on today, to make sure we have a system that catches it in the future. We need to work ourselves and together with the schools to discover this type of arrangement as well, he says.
