Dataminers found images in Counter-Strike 2’s files purportedly showing the remake of a popular map. The fans are excited.
Which map is it? There are currently tons of pictures circulating on Twitter and Reddit that show a remake of the Inferno map. This was first published on June 27, 1999 and has been revised several times over the years.
Visually, Inferno is reminiscent of a small town with European architecture, with Italian writing on signs indicating that the map is set in Italy.
Inferno was last redesigned almost seven years ago and was released in October 2016. Fans are correspondingly euphoric about the rumors that the popular map will be revised for the release of Counter-Strike 2.
Here’s a Twitter post featuring the purported Inferno remake:
How reliable is the information? The post creator himself writes that he found the images in the game files in the “Map Preview” area of CS2, but so far no official information about a remake of Inferno is known.
The images are therefore a leak that is based on data mining and could also be wrong.
However, the fact that the well-known Counter-Strike leaker “Gabe Follower” also shared the tweet with the Inferno pictures and wrote in his own post how incredibly beautiful he found the remake speaks for the credibility of the leak (via Twitter).
Gabe Follower is considered a reliable source in the Counter-Strike community and was one of the dataminers who shared the Counter-Strike 2 leaks before the CS:GO successor was officially announced.
Also, the official CS2 Twitter account responded to the tweet with a GIF (via Twitter).
“It looks fantastic”
What do fans say about the alleged revision? The CS players are over the moon. Most of the comments are very positive, with many players emphasizing how beautiful they find the map in the images shown.
There are also a few players who criticize that Inferno now looks too much like Dust in the pictures, but CS2 was also able to convince Dust with a surprisingly nice revision.
In general, the successor to the popular tactical shooter has some exciting changes ready.
