WhatsApp continues to add new features to its platform. The giant platform under the umbrella of Meta seems to have rolled up its sleeves to add various features that may be useful to its users recently. WhatsApp, which is installed on a significant part of iOS and Android devices, is now on the agenda with the crypto money step it has taken.
PAYMENT FEATURE WITH CRYPTO ON WHATSAPP
WhatsApp’s cryptocurrency move concerns a “limited number” of users in the US at first. Because the company has launched a new pilot in the country that allows a limited number of people to send and receive money within a chat using cryptocurrency. The feature is powered by Novi, Meta’s digital wallet, which it previously piloted. Payments are made in Pax Dollars (USDP), which is pegged to the US dollar.
Novi’s president, Stephane Kasriel, and WhatsApp’s Will Cathcart were the names that officially announced the cryptocurrency step.
There’s a new way to try the @Novi digital wallet. Starting today, a limited number of people in the US will be able to send and receive money using Novi on @WhatsApp, making sending money to family and friends as easy as sending a message. ????????? pic.twitter.com/dGz3lejri7

HOW DOES THE NEW FEATURE WORK?
According to Novi’s website, this feature works like sending an attachment in WhatsApp. The feature is accessed via the paper clip icon on Android or the “+” icon on iOS, and then the feature can be used by selecting “Payment” from the menu that appears.
