The Riksdag also called on the government to introduce a crown witness system. This means that a suspect must be able to be guaranteed the penalty relief that the prosecutor offers.
The proposal is one of several that will “strengthen the legal process for criminal cases and make more people convicted of crimes”.
In connection with the decision on a lighter sentence for Crown witnesses, the Riksdag also said yes to a proposal for increased penalties. This applies, among other things, to abuse in court and perjury, amendments to the law that enter into force on 1 July.
