Crowd favorite Carter Ashton returns to the SHL but not to Leksand

Carter Ashton became a real fan favorite at Leksand.
Now he is returning to Swedish hockey and the SHL again.
But then it becomes a league rival instead of “home” to Dalarna.

After several years of playing in Leksand, he was forced to leave the club this spring. The contract expired Carter Ashton and nothing new was offered from the club, therefore he had to say goodbye after four seasons.

Back to SHL

Last season, the Canadian offered 8 points and 25 games in the regular season. But above all, he will be remembered as a crowd favorite with his self-sacrificing playing style.

Now Ashton is returning to Swedish hockey and the SHL again, reports Expressen. But it won’t be back to Dalarna and the blue and white match shirt again – but he is ready for league rival Rögle instead.

Not to Leksand

Rögle has had a tough start to the SHL season, where they lost to both Leksand and Timrå during the season opener. After severe damage to both Daniel Zaar and Dennis Everberg forced the sports director Hampus Sjöström back on the market.
