Cross-country skiing: The message after the disturbing pictures of William Poromaa: Fracture ruled out

William Poromaa was together with Jens Burman in the lead of yesterday’s five miles – then the former fell in the penultimate corner.

Disturbing images were sent out after the finish and Poromaa was assisted in putting on his jacket. Further investigations were on the agenda today and now comes the news about the damage situation.

“William was quickly treated by the national team’s physiotherapist on site, and examined by the organiser’s doctor. Both judged that it was a severe sprain. The x-ray that was carried out on Monday shows that we can rule out a fracture in this situation”, writes national team doctor Rickard Noberius in a statement and continues:

“Under the circumstances, he feels good and has better mobility in his hand today. A hand surgeon will examine the injury on Wednesday to ensure the right treatment and rehab – then we can decide if it is appropriate to compete already in the World Cup in Falun”.

William Poromaa finished in tenth place in Holmenkollen. The World Cup competitions in Falun will be decided March 15–17.
