Cross-country skiing: Kristine Stavås Skistad broke the pole in the comeback: “It’s crazy”

– I have never experienced anything like this before. I rode without a pole all the way and if it lasts until the quarter-finals, it’s insane, says Skistad to NRK.

She obviously wasn’t getting the support she wanted from the new rods.

Early on, however, it was clear that there would be enough time for the final session, which begins at 12.15.

Stavås started first in the prologue and early after the start she broke the pole and got a new one quite quickly. It was then exchanged for yet another rod before she made her way to the finish line and a nervous wait after throwing the rods away in anger.

She has not competed since going out in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Lillehammer at the beginning of December. Then she stormed through the media gathering and said she was going home and training after going out in the quarterfinals.

“Two days to get over it”

She gained weight too soon after stomach surgery.

– It took two days to get over it, but now I feel good again. It was too early to start in Lillehammer. The head wanted to, but the stomach couldn’t handle it, Skistad said before the race.

Skistad is also selected for the World Cup sprint on Saturday in French Les Rousses when there is a restart after the Tour de Ski.

– It will be a good run-through against Les Rousses, said Skistad.
