Jonna Sundling showed early on that she was to be reckoned with today and was already fast in the prologue.
And in the sprint final, freestyle, the sprint star was completely superior. She went to the front in close early and made a move towards the end that no one else in the field could answer.
Jonna Sundling eventually won by more than two seconds ahead of Maja Dahlqvist and third-placed Johanna Hagström.
– Great fun to be up and running, it was nerve-wracking and I felt that the routines hadn’t quite settled. But now we’re underway and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow, says Sundling in SVT’s broadcast after the victory.
She also paid tribute to what she had under her feet:
– Great praise to the dikes and nice tracks here in Bruksvallarna!
The fact that you ride so well, what does that say about your form before the World Cup starts?
– I’m grateful to be here at the premiere, it’s not every time I get to be, so I’m just enjoying myself. It’s nice to be up and running, says Sundling – who in previous years has been injured at the start of the season.
