Cross-country skiing: Johan Häggström’s fiasco – misses the quarter-finals in Ruka

The Swedish sprinter finished 31st in the long distance prologue in Ruka.

This means that Johan Häggström is eliminated and misses the quarter-finals as the 30 fastest riders get a ticket on. Finnish Ville Ahonen was 30th rider, three hundredths quicker than Häggström.

– It was a disappointment. I would have solved that. There are many places where you think “why didn’t I do this or that?”, he tells SVT Sport.

– It’s not what I had hoped for today. I wanted to run a lot of heats.

Another who also failed to reach the quarters is Måns Skoglund. He finished 44th.

Otherwise, four strong men in blue and yellow are further ahead and it is about Edvin Anger (15th), Marcus Grate (17th), Emil Danielsson (18th) and Oskar Svensson (25th).

Fastest of all was the Norwegian sovereign Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, followed by Benjamin Moser (Austria) and Niilo Moilanen (Finland).
