Cross-country skiing: Frida Karlsson on the national team comeback: “Success factor”

In the clip above, Frida Karlsson talks about how Maja Dahlqvist’s move to Norway can help the Swedish stars in the WC 2025.

Last season, the star trio Svahn, Karlsson and Dahlqvist were outside the national team due to dissatisfaction and trained themselves during the pre-season.

After that, the national team made a review of the business and screwed up some things.

Among other things, flexibility became greater – which meant that the stars came back.

When SVT Sport now asks them to summarize the season, the tone is positive.

“Taken another step”

– I’ve had a hell of a season. The training season went as well as possible, it was fun to come back to the team – I think we have taken another step, says Karlsson.

What has worked well?

– We have been a slightly smaller training group this year and have become an even tighter group. We take advantage of each other’s strengths and everyone is open and shares.

Maja Dahlqvist looks puzzled when she is asked about the comeback in the national team this season.

– What do you mean? Yes, yes. God it feels like so long ago! But I am very happy with that, it has worked very well.

The national team manager is satisfied

National team manager Anders Byström says that an evaluation of the season will soon be expected together with the skaters. He has not received any signals that any skaters in the national team have thought about their own investments. In Norway, for example, both Johannes Hösflot Kläbo and Kristine Stavås Skistad are outside the national team.

– Hopefully we have found a variant that works. We can only create the conditions we have done with everything around us as breeders, the medical team and all the leaders. We have good camps and sparring. If we continue to get even sharper at it, I don’t think you want to choose anything else.

Ebba Andersson is one of those who enjoy the way the national team has developed.

– We have become a team where there is room to do some things on our own, but also do a lot of things together in the team. How do you use the team, but still prioritize the self? Finding the golden mean… That’s how I assume it will continue to be in the coming years.
