Cross-country skiing: After the miss in Davos: Therese Johaug opens for the Tour de Ski

When SVT Sport met Therese Johaug in Oslo before the season, the message was clear: Tour de Ski was not relevant for her.

But now, after surprisingly getting beaten by Norwegian teammate Astrid Öyre Slind in the Davos World Cup competition yesterday, she is considering competing in Toblach and Val di Fiemme at the turn of December-January after all.

– We’ll see. I will talk to the coaches and make an evaluation in the next few days about what is the best way forward going forward, she says to NRK.

“Got in better shape”

Johaug, who before the comeback this winter had been away from competing for two years, says that she is satisfied with the start of the season – but that she noticed that she felt good about competing.

– I have felt that the races so far have made me get in better shape. Everything is not as it was before. I miss the last hit. I kind of feel like I’ve been gone for two years and lost a little bit because of it.
