The Danes were very lucky when they won against Hungary in the first match of the intermediate round, but they didn’t need it against Croatia.
At half-time, Denmark led 14-8, and had it not been for Tea Pijevic in the Croatian goal, it could have been even more.
However, it was far from an optimal start to the second half for the red and whites. It took almost ten minutes before Sarah Iversen was the first Danish player to find the net behind Pijevic.
But then the floodgates were open. Denmark ran away and finally managed to win 26–17. Croatia’s hopes for the play-offs are thus completely gone.
For Sweden, every victory for Denmark means more pressure on the blue and yellow players.
The teams entered the intermediate round with the same number of points and for Sweden to advance one of these two things must occur:
1. That Sweden takes more points than Denmark. 2. If Sweden takes as many points as Denmark, Slovenia must too. This is because the three teams have beaten each other and Sweden has the best goal difference.
