Glen Kamara’s ventilation after the goal caught the eye at the Olympic Stadium.
Finland celebrated a crushing victory over San Marino in the European football qualifiers with a score of 6–0. The man of the match had scored three goals in his second international match Daniel Håkans.
Glen Kamara too rose to the limelight. Kamara was benched for Friday’s important European Championship qualifier, but returned to the starting line-up against San Marino.
Kamara was responsible for the liberating opener in the 16th minute when he saw one in by Rasmus Schüller with the San Marino defense. Kamara’s precise placement hit San Marino’s goal.
After that, Kamara ran to the entire team to the bench. The whole team fanned out together in a special way. Especially Huuhkajie’s legendary physiotherapist Jari-Pekka “Gene” From Keuru made the most of the situation.
Responsible for Finland’s second goal Benjamin Källman revealed the background of the ventilation in ‘s studio after the game.
– It’s a common thing that we do in the morning training with the team. We do it every morning on game day. Now that became the vent for this game. A great thing, Källman revealed.
A goal was rare for Kamara. It was only the second of the National Team career for the midfielder, who has been one of Finland’s key players in recent years. The first came against Greece in October 2018.
Kamara was also chosen as the Huuhkaja of the match in ‘s vote.
– At the beginning of the game, we needed movement and a direction in which to play. Glen was on a really good footing, one of ‘s experts Jarkko Wiss praised.
Kamara, representing Glasgow Rangers, had a very difficult season. He had very little responsibility in the team.
Even in the Finnish national team, Kamara has not performed as glamorously as he is used to. Kamara’s actions were criticized in the qualifying games in March.
– If we look at the game shows, it’s a perfectly justified solution. I’m not surprised Antti Pohja stated about the benching before the match against Slovenia.
– I agree. This is also a statement that you have to play with discipline. Kamara has been far from that in the last national team games, Toni Koskela continued.
Kamara got sidetracked last season at Rangers. When Kamara suffered an ankle injury, the manager Michael Beale found a replacement.
Beale gave comments to the British media, based on which Kamara would not have a big role at Rangers. The continuation at Rangers has looked uncertain.
– Now the goal certainly felt good and he was still in the starting line-up. I believe next summer’s transfer will be decisive in Glen’s career, Markus Halsti pondered Kamara’s next steps after the San Marino game.
