The striking train drivers are using illegal industrial action. Anton Fendert (MP), traffic regional councilor in the Stockholm region, thinks so, and says that the action does not affect the decision to remove the train attendants. – They are taking Stockholm’s commuter train passengers hostage to push for a change in a democratically made decision. The promised train drivers’ strike has started and Stockholm’s commuter train service is badly affected by a lack of staff. The reason for the wild strike is that the train drivers are demanding the return of the train attendants on the commuter trains. But the decision to remove the hosts will remain. Anton Fendert (MP) says so and directs stinging criticism at the strikers. – This particular day seems to be surgically selected. On this day, we would move towards a well-functioning commuter train service in Stockholm. Instead, they engage in illegal industrial action and put travelers’ accessibility at risk. Doesn’t affect the decision The strike is expected to last for three days and according to Fendert, the action is unpaid. – The decision is firm. The train attendants in Stockholm’s commuter train system will no longer exist after September. Can’t you understand the drivers’ criticism? – This is being carried out outside the Swedish labor market model and I think that is unfortunate. We will conduct the discussion within that model. But this is an illegal industrial action that even the trade unions do not support and I think it is time to rethink.
