The EU Commission is accused of contributing to and turning a blind eye to deportations of Syrians and Afghans from Turkey, among others.

In a report from the journalistic collaboration Lighthouse on Friday, in collaboration with several major newspapers and news sites in Europe, it is testified that the deportations take place without protests from the EU, despite alarms from several quarters.

– Everyone knows. People turn a blind eye to it, a former EU official told Lighthouse.

However, representatives of the European Commission believe that the responsibility lies with Turkey to ensure that all fundamental rights are respected.

– It is Turkey’s responsibility to investigate all allegations of wrongdoing and we urge them to do so, says spokeswoman Ana Pisonero.
