The review particularly applies to a telephone that was placed in a corridor where both staff and other patients could hear what was being said. JO states that the location makes it difficult for the persons to have confidential conversations with, for example, lawyers and authorities.
The clinic writes in a response that the phone placement aims to give the staff the opportunity to supervise patients with restrictions. There is also the option of calling more separately from the staff phone – but then together with one of the staff.
JO notes that there is a lack of legal support for staff to listen or otherwise take part in the conversations. The clinic’s routines therefore contravene the legislation.
