The Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) criticizes Trosa municipality on several points for not having done a proper investigation into the concern that was received about an infant who later died, writes Södermanland’s Nyheter.
The infant was born prematurely and already at the hospital the staff saw signs of a lack of care from the parents. A report of concern was sent to the municipality, which immediately had a conversation with the parents. They did not share the hospital’s image.
The conversation led the social service to consider that there was no danger to the child and did no further investigation.
The infant was then taken lifeless to hospital by ambulance helicopter but his life could not be saved. A report of concern was then received from the police regarding the siblings, but none of the social services’ investigations led to any action.
Ivo criticizes the municipality because the investigations are missing important details, such as the fact that the stepfather was initially suspected of having caused the infant’s death, something he was later acquitted of.
