Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, paid a visit to the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. Speaking in the joint press after his meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, Leyen stated that the work on Ukraine’s EU candidacy continues, “We are working on this evaluation day and night. In April, I promised Zelenskiy that we will work on it tirelessly. Negotiations on candidate status will be concluded within the next week,” he said.
‘WE ARE WITH UKRAINE’
Expressing that they stand by the Ukrainian people in this process, Leyen said, “The Ukrainian people have shown incredible strength, motivation and endurance, I deeply believe that we will be together. You will overcome this terrible brutal war, we will, and you will rebuild this beautiful country and modernize Ukraine. you will,” he said.
Von der Leyen visited Kiev last April 8 and delivered the EU entry questionnaire to Zelenskiy.
