Cristiano Ronaldo has really been a big talker during the European Football Championship.
Now the Portuguese superstar can be punished by Uefa after an inappropriate action.
“It is illegal and the player should be punished,” writes Ricardo Fort on X.
There has been a lot of talk about and around Cristiano Ronaldo during the football European Championship 2024 in Germany. The 39-year-old is one of the tournament’s biggest poster names, but after a season in Saudi Arabia, his form has been seriously damaged.
Ronaldo in the EC
Ronaldo has not been able to deliver at all for Portugal and is so far goalless with just one assist on his stats account. Despite the fact that the Portuguese superstar starts every match and grabs both free kicks and penalties.

Last match against Slovenia in the round of 16 criticism of Ronaldo reached its peak when he burned a penalty kick in extra time and burst into tears. Now comes the next setback for Cristiano Ronaldo who risks being punished by Uefa.
Can now be punished
Ronaldo is accused of stealth advertising during the Euros after the company Whoop posted an image, see below, on social media the day after Portugal’s penalty shootout win in the round of 16.
“When you are Cristiano Ronaldo, there are no fears in football. See how ‘CR7’ went into a ‘flow state’ and dropped his heart rate just before building momentum against Slovenia. See you in the quarter-finals, Portugal!”, the company writes on X along with a graph of Ronaldo’s heart rate.

The 39-year-old played the match with a heart rate monitor on his arm, although taped over, but has now ended up in bad weather.
“This graph has been circulating today. Cristiano and Whoop are encroaching on marketing for Euro 2024. It is illegal and both the player and the company should be fined,” writes Ricardo Fort on X, see the image below.

Fort is a sponsorship and marketing expert and has previously worked for both Coca-Cola and Visa. He believes it is illegal for companies to associate with the championship unless they are an official sponsor, which Whoop is not at all.
“Ronaldo is an investor in the company and they clearly use him in the context of the event. This advertisement would not exist without the event. I am not a lawyer, but it is possible that there are legal grounds,” writes Fort in his explanation.
