[Mis à jour le 12 juillet 2022 à 10h21] Final Fantasy VII holds a special place in the hearts of fans of the Square Enix franchise, and it is on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of this legendary release that the Japanese studio has decided to announce some of its new projects. Among the new features announced was an unexpected little remake that intrigued us a bit. Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is coming to our consoles and PCs in 2022, a remake of the standalone PSP dedicated to the adventures of Zack released in 2007. A surprise announcement, which could well occupy our long winter nights, and for which Square Enix is is committed to delivering excellent PC performance for once.

It’s in a recent interview with producer Mariko Sato for IGN that the Japanese returned in detail to Square Enix’s objectives for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion on PC. The game will have new features, including support for a 120 fps display mode. An announcement that is reassuring when you consider the performance of the studio’s recent computer ports, often stuck at 60 fps (NieR Automata) or struggling to reach 120 fps without major performance issues (FF7 Remake Intergrade). It remains to be seen whether the ambitions of the Japanese studio will be respected when the vast majority of players in the license are on console. But a 120 fps mode, you never say no.

From the PSP to the PS5, there is only one step. Well not really since we can count between the two more than fifteen years, an entire console generation, and some technological revolutions. It is therefore from the small to the big screen that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion will pass. This remake of the standalone PSP released in 2007 returns to the story of Zack, more than 7 years before the events of Final Fantasy VII. One could consider that Square Enix therefore offers us with this remake an exciting foretaste before the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at the end of 2023. It will be above all the opportunity to rediscover this great classic of the license with a brand new 3D engine, a new soundtrack and new dubbing.

Want to spend the winter in your room beating bad guys and solving titanic puzzles? That’s pretty good since Square Enix has planned to offer us its remake Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion from the winter of 2022. A release in a few months therefore, which will allow us to wait a whole year before the arrival of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5. Note that for once, Square Enix has not teamed up with Sony, and that Crisis Core Reunion is planned for PS4 and PS5, but also for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch. Something to satisfy all types of players.

The good news of the day is that the game is already available for pre-order on the various platforms where it will be offered. You can find it on Amazon for now, priced at €59.99 on PS4, PS5, Switch and Xbox One and Series.
