Crime briefs: Attempted break-in in Walsingham area

Norfolk OPP are asking for the public’s help to identify the person(s) who tried to forcibly gain entry to a shed at a North Walsingham-South Walsingham Townline Road address.

The attempted break-and-enter occurred during the morning hours of Tuesday, January 2, 2024, but there were no items reported stolen.

Trailer stolen in Caledonia

Haldimand OPP are investigating the theft of a trailer from a Caledonia address.

Police say the 6 x 12-foot enclosed utility trailer – black with white RT Mechanical lettering on the side – parked on Hawick Crescent was stolen between 11 pm New Year’s Day and 8 am January 2.

A quantity of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) supplies were inside the locked trailer.

Truck stolen in Fishersville

Police are investigating the theft of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck taken from a business on Main Street in Fisherville.

The theft occurred sometime between Saturday, December 30, and Tuesday January 2.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Stolen property found in vehicle

A 41-year-old Elgin County man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team stopped a vehicle on 6th Concession Road in Langton on Tuesday, January 2.

Officers discovered power tools in the vehicle that had been reported stolen from an address on North Walsingham-South Walsingham Townline Road in Langton.
