Batches of applesauce containing listeria were delivered to more than 300 childcare facilities around the city of Lyon and in ten neighboring departments. A call for vigilance has been launched.

The delivery of these apple sauces took place on March 7th. About 300 childcare facilities, located in ten departments around the city of Lyon are concerned. In detail, these are Ain, Isère, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, Côte d’Or, Doubs and Saône-et -Loire.

    Applesauce contaminated with listeria

These apple compotes contaminated with listeria come from the central kitchen of Mornant managed by the company Ansamble and located in the mountains of Lyonnais. The positive test was carried out in a Lyon nursery, which carried out a self-check in mid-March. 2,300 contaminated meals were therefore delivered to 304 different structures.

A call for vigilance for families and professionals

Listeria is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, an illness characterized by fever, headache, nausea, diarrhea or vomiting and can be serious, especially in children and pregnant women. For the moment, it seems that no child has been affected, since listeriosis is a notifiable disease. Parents, as well as professionals working in these structures, have been informed of the signs to watch out for. Vigilance will continue until May 2, as listeriosis has an incubation period of 10 to 28 days.
