After Ryan Reynolds officially revealed all of his cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, the creative minds behind the Marvel blockbuster can finally talk about the making of the film. A major topic is all of the “What if …?”-Scenarios like a cameo from all the Avengers.
Probably very few fans expected that we would actually see all the big stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one scene on the big screen in Deadpool & Wolverine. But it is surprising that one well-known character does not appear: Daredevil – played by Ben Affleck.

Since Jennifer Garner returns as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine, a Daredevil cameo would definitely have been a good idea. Two Marvel heroes who have fallen out of favor with fans and critics get a second chanceby helping Deapdool and Wolverine fight evil. It shouldn’t be this way.

Why doesn’t Affleck’s Daredevil appear in Deadpool & Wolverine? IndieWire asked Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, which star they couldn’t get for the film. The answer of the two screenwriters reveals:
Reese: I think everyone we asked said yes.
Wernick: We wanted Daredevil.
Reese: Did we want Ben [Affleck] get it? We never asked Ben though, I think.
Wernick: At some point Ben was on the list.
Reese: He was on the list, but I don’t think he ever appeared on the script pages or we actually asked him. Another star from the 2003 Daredevil film made it into Deadpool & Wolverine anyway
Even though Ben Affleck’s Daredevil was on the Deadpool & Wolverine writers’ list, he apparently didn’t have much priority. So only Jennifer Garner’s Elektra made it into the multiverse blockbuster. Although, if we look closely, there is a second Daredevil star who appears in Deadpool & Wolverine: Jon Favreau.
In the MCU, Favreau is known as Happy Hogan (and director of the first two Iron Man films). In 2003, however, he brought another Marvel character to life, namely Franklin Nelsonwho teams up with Matt Murdock aka Daredevil as a lawyer. In Deadpool & Wolverine, however, Favreau doesn’t play Franklin, but Happy.
Deadpool & Wolverine has been running since July 24, 2024 in German cinemas.
