CRC presidential party holds congress ahead of 2024 general elections

This Saturday morning opens the congress of the Convention for the Renewal of the Comoros (CRC), the party of the Head of State, Azali Assoumani. Several resolutions will be taken, in particular on the national political partnership with the parties of the presidential movement. With the presidential and gubernatorial elections approaching, the party is reportedly looking for a general secretary capable of uniting all of its factions.

Until tomorrow Sunday, the CRC will look into its texts. A desire to revise and modernize the statutes and regulations of the party, it is said on the side of its leaders, taking into account the political and socio-economic developments of the country.

The party, which prides itself on having nearly 30,000 members since its last awareness campaign, wants to further establish its aura on the national territory. The formation already has 22 of the 24 deputies of the National Assembly, as well as several elected municipal officials.

The most awaited event nevertheless remains the election of the new office at the head of which will be the Secretary General. He will have to prepare the ground for the presidential election, scheduled for early 2024. If no name has been officially announced, there is no shortage of aspirants.

One name stands out: that of Nour El Fath Azali : privy councilor and eldest son of head of state. He led the party’s last census campaign. Only, the person concerned assures not to be a candidate. He nevertheless claims to remain at the disposal of the CRC and explains “the place does not matter, as long as we manage to contribute” to the party.
