Diablo Immortal allows for many builds to play your character. Normally the builds are designed to cause as much damage as possible – this makes almost everything easier. However, a YouTuber has come up with a Necro build that does almost no damage at all, but only relies on control effects (“CC”).
What build is this? YouTuber and Twitch streamer DM: Diablo Immortal has uploaded a video to his channel introducing his zDPS PvP Necromancer. zDPS stands for “zero DPS”, i.e.: 0 damage per second.
Although necromancers are not among the best classes in Diablo Immortal’s tier list, DM (short for: DarthMicrotransaction) can clearly dominate with its build. That’s because he simply deprives opponents of any opportunity to act.
Unlike our recommended Necromancer build, the zDPS build is intended to control enemies at all times. According to DM, the build should simply be “as annoying as possible”. We have included his video for you here:
This is what makes the build so strong: With the appropriate skills, opponents can be prevented from moving and taking action until your teammates have dealt with them.
This even helps against pesky enemies like Crusaders or Barbarians with their invulnerability effects, which usually don’t make them immune to control. So you can just hold out and then do it.
In addition, the build of DM relies on survival with shields instead of companions, as is usual with necromancers. With the shields, you can even ignore damage effects that otherwise prevent you from healing with bandages in PvP.
Know your opponents when playing in PvP! In the video we show you gameplay of all classes of Diablo Immortal:
Necromancer with control abilities just sucks in PvP
What do I need for the build? Basically, the build only builds on 4 of the necromancer’s abilities in combination with corresponding legendaries:
Your primary attack is arbitrary, with DM using Soul Fire to add some versatility to the build and dish out some damage. This is not necessary, since you only rely on CC, but a useful extension.
Accordingly, weapons and shields are also secondary. DM uses Pyre’s Allure to ignite the Bone Wall and Simulcrator to distract enemy pets in his build.
Interested in trying out the build? You can now just switch classes. In our guide you will find everything about changing classes, in the video we explain how it works:
How to play the build: The gameplay is pretty simple, you rotate your abilities to throw enemies up. But remember not to cast the skills too quickly one after the other.
You can give enemies a second or less before using the next CC to bait their strong cooldowns or to better align your own cooldowns.
You use ghost form both for attacking to inflict fear on opponents and for fleeing. If you’re low on health, retreat and be sure to use bone armor before healing. Because as long as damage effects only affect your shield and not your life points, you can still heal yourself.
Survival is the top priority, after all you want to control opponents for as long as possible. Don’t take any unnecessary risks and let your fellow players do the damage.
