Crayfish plague discovered in lake Logärden in Falun

– It feels hopeless, the air is going out of you, says Lars Nordström, chairman of the Hinsen-Logärden fisheries management area association.

It was the third time that the lake has been affected by crayfish plague

– We are fairly certain that someone sat in signal crayfish in a lake that lies upstream and that flows into Logärden. It’s enough for a boat or someone with wet swimwear to come in from an infected lake and it’s done, says Lars Nordström and continues:

– It only took a month until the entire lake was infected.

Canker sores are contagious – but can also pass

Crayfish plague, carried by signal crayfish, is extremely contagious and can be difficult to control. Therefore, the fishing ban in the lake applies for 2.5 years.

The limit for signal strength divides Sweden in two

There is a line through Sweden where you can handle signal forces and not. The border runs, among other things, through Dalarna, where the county administrative board has been conducting test fishing in Siljan since last year to see how close to the border the signal crayfish are as a result of the milder climate.
