An elderly couple in Hässleholm woke up to a loud bang when a car crashed into their villa garden, hit the house wall and landed up and down. The driver, a 19-year-old man, is now sentenced to three months in prison for gross negligence in traffic, aggravated drunk driving and minor drug offenses, reports Norra Skåne.

The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve when the police were to check the car driven by the 19-year-old. The young man then tried to drive away from the police and a car chase at high speed began, which ended with the crash into the garden.

The man, who turned out to have 1.36 per mille alcohol and traces of cocaine in his blood, stated that he had been to a New Year’s party and that he lost his memory sometime after midnight and did not get it back until the crash.
