Crash of computer systems causes congestion at German airports | News in brief

Checks for arrivals from outside the Schengen area at German airports have been congested since the computer systems used in connection with entry stopped working on Friday afternoon.

– Our colleagues now have to do many things manually, which were previously handled with the help of systems, says the spokesperson of the police responsible for Frankfurt Airport.

At Düsseldorf airport, there is also a delay of several hours in the checks of those leaving the Schengen area, the airport says.

The cause of the disturbance is currently unknown. So far, the system failure has not affected flight schedules, for example from Frankfurt and Berlin airports.
