A 63-year-old Chatham man is accused of impaired driving and giving a false name after Chatham-Kent police responded to a motor vehicle crash.
Police were called to the crash on Degge Street in Chatham around 2:30 pm Friday and while speaking to the driver at fault, it was believed he was impaired by alcohol.
It was also learned the man identified himself with a false name, police said.
When his identity was confirmed, police discovered he was bound by court conditions not to communicate with a female or attend a residence on Degge Street.
The accused was transported to police headquarters for breath tests and later charged with impaired driving, police said.
He was also charged with obstruct police and two counts of failing to comply, police said.
The accused was released when sober with an April 17 court date, police said.
