“Dirty James Bond”director Dennis Gansel called the basic idea for the secret agent Seuqel Mechanic: Resurrection with Jason Statham. It was the sequel to the action film The Mechanic, which in turn is the remake of the 70s film of the same name starring Charles Bronson.

If you’re up for some tough action tonight, you can catch Mechanic 2 at prime time on free TV.

Jason Staham returns as Dirty James Bond in Mechanic: Resurrection

Former contract killer Arthur Bishop (Statham) had actually finished with his old life and even faked his own death in order to be able to make a new start. To save her, Arthur has to travel around the world to complete three more killer jobs, which he uses his special method to make look like accidents.

Other roles include Michelle Yeoh as ally Mei and Tommy Lee Jones as target Max Adams.

Mechanic 2 has been compared not only to James Bond, but also Mission: Impossible

Arthur Bishop’s hitman adventure should not only be something for fans of 007, but also for fans of the Mission: Impossible film series. At least that’s what Variety said in the film review of the action sequel:

Mechanic: Resurrection is the film that The Mechanic should have been – a Bite-sized Bond filmor perhaps a harder, more murderous Mission: Impossible rip-off with a lone, ferocious wolf as the entire team.

FILMSTARTS only gave 2 out of 5 stars, but they praised a set piece from the middle of the film and also drew a comparison to the series with the seemingly impossible tasks:

The highlight is a sequence that stands out as a less spectacular one, but still Exciting variant of the Burj Khalifa sequence from Mission: Impossible – Phantom Protocol when and where can Mechanic 2 be seen on TV?
