Covid long a phenomenon still poorly understood

normal

About 10% of people infected with Sars-CoV-2 report having persistent symptoms more than three months later. Exhaustion, headaches, loss of balance and concentration, depression, anxiety, insomnia, ageusia, diarrhea, shortness of breath… More than 200 symptoms, most often pulmonary, neuropsychiatric, cardiovascular or gastrointestinal are reported by patients . Problem, the pathophysiological mechanisms that could explain them are still very poorly understood. Hypotheses exist: these symptoms could be linked to inflammatory reactions, autoimmune phenomena, even the persistence of the virus in the body, or even microthrombi. But until the underlying mechanisms are precisely identified, doctors will not be able to offer specific treatments (which cure the disease) to patients, but only symptomatic treatments (which act on the symptoms).
